Samsung Galaxy S8 rumours
The Samsung Galaxy S8 launch has been reportedly postponed to April 18. However, rumour also has it that Samsung may showcase a small batch of its next flagship Galaxy S phone at MWC in February. A new report now suggests that the company may already have made a prototype and that the company CEO and Vice Chairman may even be using it as we speak.
Even as the future of the next Note phablet from Samsung seems all but bleak, it is said that Samsung may be working on a new strategy, vis a vis its Galaxy S line-up. It is said that that the company may launch two Galaxy S phones, as always, only this year, but their size may be different in order to compensate for the lack of a Note flagship perhaps. The phones in question are said to be the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus (and no Galaxy S8 Edge). The Galaxy S8 Plus is said to be the high-end offering and may replace the Note in the longer run.
While the Galaxy S8 is said to be a 5.7-inch device, the Galaxy S8 Plus is said to be a 6-inch one. Having said that, because these phones will reportedly come with almost no side bezels (and dual curves) they would seem more compact in actuality. Also, the phones are said to be missing out on a Samsung-trademark home button on the front. The fingerprint scanner will reportedly be on the rear in these phones.
The Galaxy S8 Plus is also said to carry a dual camera setup on the rear, like it is in the iPhone k7 Plus, although its functionality isn't clear yet. The Galaxy S8 will likely be skipping on the dual camera setup to cut costs.
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S phones are expected to cram a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood. There may also be a batch with an Exynos version of the same chipset, in line with the company's recent trend.
