The Ocean Is So Much Deeper Than You Think It is.

What’s hiding under the sea? A lot.

In this neat animation, Real Life Lore explored the depths of the ocean and details what you would run into at what level, and most of it is goddamn terrifying. Luckily for us puny humans, most of us can’t even get very far in the ocean to see all the monsters down there because of decompression sickness (which occurs around 320 feet below) and, well, eventual death (the water pressure is crazy down there, I hear).

It’s especially brain tickling to think about how deep the ocean is in terms of the height of well known buildings like the Empire State Building and the Burj Khalifa. I mean, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest skyscraper in the world, but if it were flipped upside down and into the ocean, there’s still so much more beyond it. It’s basically a completely different world with giant squids, black dragonfishes, permanent darkness, the wreck of the Titanic, and other super scary things.
